Jen’s "Emotion" challenge for DWs, set Thursday 3rd December

I would like you to explore emotions without telling the reader how your characters are feeling.  Instead, represent the feelings in what they do or say, particularly their body language.  Also, consider describing the setting and weather to reflect the emotion and allow the reader to be involved in deducing people's feelings.

Emotion:

Write either a prose piece of up to a maximum of 2,000 words, or a poem containing strong contrasting emotions without referring to the name of an emotion or any related word e.g., no anger / angry / angrily.
As we have Valentine's day coming up and an Orange Street meeting with a related theme, poets might like to bear this in mind and write about a romantic relationship. It is up to you to decide whether this is comic, fact based, invented, nostalgic etc, and I would love a mix.
The deadline for pieces to be sent to me is Friday 15th January.
at our Thursday 21st January meeting, we will share a few selected entries depending on time available.

All the best, and get emotional. Jen.                                                  Back to Diary
